*US, c. 1986, Mossberg Pump-Action Shotgun, 12 Bore, Deactivated (EU Spec), with Hogue Pistol Grip & Additional Hogue OverMolded Stock*

A deactivated American Mossberg pump-action shotgun in 12 bore, manufactured in late 1986 and retaining its short 530 mm barrel. The shotgun is currently configured with a black overmoulded Hogue rubber pistol grip, giving the compact, utilitarian profile associated with patrol and security-pattern Mossberg pump guns of the late Cold War period.

The receiver bears serial number J826082, which dates manufacture to late 1986, falling between known production blocks J818xxx (October 1986) and J845xxx (December 1986). Barrel markings read “Mossberg – Made in U.S.A. – North Haven, Conn.” with additional inspection and proof marks consistent with period production.

Supplied separately, but not fitted, is a genuine Hogue OverMolded full-length shoulder stock, identifiable by moulded HOGUE® trademarks and patent marking PAT. #C301817. This stock is correct for Mossberg 500-series shotguns and represents a period-appropriate aftermarket accessory rather than a later reproduction.

The pump action cycles correctly in deactivated form, with the trigger and internal components rendered permanently inert in accordance with current EU deactivation requirements.

Approx. Measurements – Barrel length: 53 cm (530 mm). Overall length (as configured): approx. 75 cm.

Historical Note:
Mossberg pump-action shotguns became firmly established during the second half of the 20th century as rugged, reliable repeating shotguns suitable for sporting, law-enforcement, and security use. By the mid-1980s, short-barrelled configurations such as this example were widely associated with patrol and defensive roles in the United States.

Aftermarket accessories such as Hogue’s OverMolded stocks and pistol grips were introduced in the late 1980s and gained popularity for their improved grip, recoil absorption, and durability. Their presence on period Mossberg shotguns is typical of practical upgrades made during service life rather than later cosmetic additions.
