*Unusual Victorian Marshal of London Court Dress Sword*
An unusual 19th Century brass mounted Marshal of London Court Dress Sword. Gilt brass ornate D and cross guard. Brass shell guard finely embellished with the arms of the city of London. The Latin motto of the City is "Domine Dirige Nos, which translates as "Lord, direct (guide) us". It appears to have been adopted in the 17th century, as the earliest record of it is in 1633. The blade still retaining some engraving. Overall length 77cm. Crown pommel and raised tang button, copper bound grip. Blade etched with foliage.
*Condition*
The grip and blade are in good condition with age related wear and tear. The blade has some blackening and the engraving is difficult to see. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
