*The Beatles, 1967–1970 (The Blue Album), Apple Records PCSP 718, Stereo 2×LP, Translucent Blue Vinyl*
An original UK Apple Records pressing of The Beatles – 1967–1970 (commonly known as The Blue Album), catalogue number PCSP 718, issued as a stereo double LP. This example is pressed on translucent blue vinyl, a sought-after UK variant produced using EMI metalwork during the early-to-mid 1970s, and is complete with its original gatefold sleeve and correct blue lyric inner sleeves.
The compilation spans the band’s later period and includes classic recordings such as Strawberry Fields Forever, Hey Jude, Come Together, Something, and Let It Be. One of the most enduring and widely collected Beatles releases.
Both records form a matched UK pressing set, with all four sides carrying correct UK EMI matrix numbers: YEX 909-6, YEX 910-5, YEX 911-2, YEX 912-3. These confirm an authentic UK Apple pressing using early EMI metalwork, rather than a later digitally sourced reissue.
Historical Note:
First released in 1973, 1967–1970 was issued alongside 1962–1966 as part of Apple’s definitive retrospective of The Beatles’ career. While standard UK copies were pressed on black vinyl, a smaller number were produced on translucent blue vinyl, primarily for export and later UK distribution, making these examples especially desirable among collectors.
*Condition*
The gatefold sleeve shows general age-related wear, including edge and corner wear, surface rubbing, and noticeable spine wear consistent with handling and storage. The spine is just about legible and the gatefold structure is sound. Both original blue lyric inner sleeves are present and correct, showing creasing and handling wear. Both records are pressed on translucent blue vinyl and appear in very good plus condition, with light surface marks and hairlines visible under strong light. No deep scratches or cracks observed. Expected playback would be VG+ with light background noise in quieter passages only. The records have not been play-tested. Labels are clean with light spindle wear. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
