~ Sterling Silver Automobile Association Cigarette Case Birmingham 1955 ~

A fine quality hallmarked sterling silver cigarette case with inscription relating to the AA (Automobile Association).

The case is of traditional rectangular form in sterling silver. There is machine turned engraving to the lid and the initials ‘WGR’ to the top left hand corner.

To the front is engraved the symbol of the Automobile Association (AA) and the legend ‘Long Service Award’.

The case has a wood interior with a partition insert and the base is finished with a dark leather material.

The case is hallmarked (to both lid and base) for Birmingham, 1955.

~ Dimensions ~

The case measures 14.5cm (5 ¾ inches) by 9cm (3 ½ inches) with a height of 3.5cm (1 ⅓ inches).

It weighs 360g.

~ Condition ~

There is some compaction to one corner of the case (see images) but otherwise the piece is in a very nice condition with only light wear commensurate with age.
