Deactivated P226 Sig Sauer Automatic Pistol

The pistol’s slide is stamped with the manufacturer’s name on the left side.

On the right side the serial number ‘U419940’ is stamped along with ‘P226 Made in Germany’.

The serial number is stamped again on the metal frame, just above the trigger.

The top end of the slide is stamped on the down side with three proof marks.

~ Dimensions ~

The barrel length is 4.4 inches (11.2 cm) and the overall length of the pistol is 7.7 inches (19.6 cm).

It weighs 915 grams.

~ Condition ~

The pistol has minimum signs of wear.

It cocks and dry fires.

~ Sig Sauer P226 ~

The SIG P226 is a full-sized, service-type pistol made by SIG Sauer. It is chambered for the 9×19mm Parabellum, .40 S&W, .357 SIG, and .22 Long Rifle. It is essentially the same basic design of the SIG P220, but developed to use higher capacity, staggered-column magazines in place of the single-column magazines of the P220. The P226 itself has spawned further sub-variants; the P228 and P229 are both compact versions of the staggered-column P226 design. The SIG Sauer P226 and its variants are in service with numerous law enforcement and military organizations worldwide.

The P226 was designed for entry into the Service Small Arms Program that was held by the US Army in 1984 to find a replacement for the M1911A1. Only the Beretta 92F and the SIG P226 satisfactorily completed the trials.
Eventually it was adopted by the US Navy.
