*Soviet, WW2, M91/30 Socket Bayonet, Battlefield Relic, Found Königsberg, East Prussia, Mounted Display*

Original Soviet WW2 M1891/30 Mosin-Nagant socket bayonet, recovered from the historic battlefields of Königsberg, East Prussia. This distinctive cruciform-bladed bayonet would have been issued to Soviet troops advancing during the fierce fighting of 1945. It features the typical socket design for use on the Mosin-Nagant rifle, with a long, needle-like blade intended for deep penetration.

This relic is presented mounted on a wooden display board measuring approximately 11cm x 61.3cm, with a clear label detailing its provenance. It is an evocative relic of the brutal final battles on the Eastern Front. Recovered from Königsberg, it symbolizes the Red Army’s final push into East Prussia.

Historical note:
The Battle of Königsberg (April 1945) marked the Soviet offensive to capture the heavily fortified German city, then part of East Prussia. The city’s fall played a pivotal role in closing the Eastern Front. Soviet forces suffered heavy casualties and used bayonets extensively in close combat during urban assaults. Bayonets such as this one are symbolic of the brutal hand-to-hand fighting that characterized the Eastern Front.

*Condition*
This example is in excavated battlefield condition, heavily pitted and rusted throughout, consistent with decades underground. The socket and locking ring are corroded but structurally intact, though frozen in place. Blade is heavily curved from wartime or post-war damage. No visible markings remain due to corrosion. Despite its relic condition, it retains strong historical and display value. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
