*Soviet - USSR, Cold War - Dated 1986, Winter Ushanka Hat, Bobruisk Fur Factory, Size 58, Red Star Cockade Badge, Military Issue*

A very attractive and original late Soviet military winter ushanka hat, dating to 1986 and produced by the Bobruisk Fur Factory (Меховая Фабрика г. Бобруйск) in the Belorussian SSR. This classic Cold War-era winter issue hat features the distinctive grey-blue synthetic fur trim, grey wool body, fold-down ear flaps with tie cords, and the larger gilt and enamel Soviet cockade badge to the front, comprising the red enamel star with hammer and sickle set within a gold laurel wreath surround.

The interior retains its original quilted lining with clear factory markings, including the Bobruisk factory diamond stamp with the characteristic beaver logo, size marking “58,” and date stamp “86 г.,” confirming manufacture in 1986. The size 58 corresponds to approximately a 58 cm head circumference, a common medium/large military issue size. The synthetic “fish fur” trim was standard Soviet issue—durable, warm, and designed for harsh winter service conditions across the USSR and Warsaw Pact states.

Approx. Measurements – Size: 58 (approx. 58 cm head circumference).

History Note:
The Bobruisk Fur Factory in Belarus was one of the principal producers of Soviet military winter headgear during the Cold War period, supplying ushankas for army, air force, interior troops, and reserve use. By the 1980s these hats had become one of the most recognisable symbols of Soviet military dress, worn throughout the final decade of the USSR before its dissolution in 1991. The gilt and enamel red star cockade remains the defining emblem of official Soviet service issue and gives the piece particularly strong display appeal for collectors of Cold War militaria.

*Condition*
Condition is very good overall, with clean original lining, strong colour throughout, and the original Soviet cockade securely present to the front. Minor light service wear only consistent with age and storage. Please see photographs as part of the condition report. A highly displayable and increasingly collectible authentic late Soviet military ushanka with clear dated factory markings and excellent Cold War character.
