A scratch built model of the Danish paddle steamer ‘SS Hjejlen’.

The model is of wood construction with nice attention to detail.

It is presented on a custom wood stand.

The model has a total length of 96cm (37 ¾ inches) and width of 20.5cm (8 inches).

On stand it has a height of 21.5cm (8 ½ inches) and weighs 1.32 Kg

The model is in great condition with no damage.

~ SS Hjejlen ~

SS Hjejlen (Danish for The Golden Plover) is one of the world's oldest operational paddle steamers, built in 1861 by Baumgarten & Burmeister, commissioned by a group of citizens headed by paper manufacturer Michael Drewsen.

 She is used to carry tourists between Silkeborg and Himmelbjerget, Denmark but in 1932 she also became a public mail boat.

In 2011 Hjejlen celebrated her 150th anniversary, a commemorative coin was issued by the National Bank of Denmark.
