*Rare: United States Air Force, 527th Tactical Fighter Training Aggressor Squadron Badge, 1976*
Nice authentic patch from the 527th Tactical Fighter Training Aggressor Squadron, United States, Air Force.
The 527th originated as the 312th Bombardment Squadron (Light) on January 13, 1943, at Will Rogers Field, Oklahoma. Undergoing seven designation changes during its active history, the unit experienced a two-decade hiatus before being reactivated as the 527th Tactical Fighter Training Aggressor Squadron (TFTAS) on April 1, 1976, at RAF Alconbury, England. Aligned with the 10th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing (later the 10th Tactical Fighter Wing), the squadron utilized the Northrop F-5E Tiger II for Dissimilar Air Combat Tactics (DACT) training. A semi-permanent presence at the ACMI range in Decimomannu, Sardinia, facilitated the continuation of NATO base operations at Alconbury and extended training opportunities to air forces like the Royal Air Force, Armee de l'Air, Italian Air Force, and Luftwaffe. Redesignated as the 527th Aggressor Squadron (AS) on April 14, 1983, the squadron remained at Alconbury until 1988. It currently exists as the 527th Space Aggressor Squadron at Schriever Air Force Base.
