~ Rare Original 1950/60 NGK Giant Spark Plug Shop Advertising ~

These large-sized plastic parts were promotional items used by NGK to advertise their spark plugs, and their unique design and historical significance make them sought after by collectors.

The piece is stamped Invicta Plastics Ltd. Leicester England and it still bears the original company stickers.

~ Condition ~

The piece is in a general good condition for its age. As seen on the top the little arm of the plug is missing its finial.

Founded: 1936, Japan

Origins: NGK was established as Nihon Gaishi Kaisha, which translates to “Japan Insulator Company,” originally producing ceramic insulators for electrical equipment.

Marketing campaigns included large-scale figures, tin signs, and other eye-catching advertising materials.

Global presence: Today, NGK is a worldwide leader in spark plugs and related ignition technology, as well as ceramics used in industrial applications. Its products are widely used in automobiles, motorcycles, marine engines, and industrial machinery.

Fun Fact: The “Spark Boy” advertising figure from the 1950s–60s was part of NGK’s playful marketing approach to make spark plugs memorable to both shopkeepers and consumers. These figures are now highly collectible vintage automobilia.
