A "jack" (Gösch in German) is a small version of the national flag of any country that is flown from a jackstaff on the bow of a war ship to indicate its nationality, while a military or war ensign is flown on the stern.

This particular jack has exactly the correct markings and is a good size. We do not know what vessel it was from but it looks to have been used so wether it was a uboat or Schnell Boat who knows but it is likely to have seen some action.
