*Rare, German, WW2, Panzerbuchse 39 (PzB) Rifle Anti Tank Round, Dated 1939, Inert*

Round Marked: P, 9d,39, Waffenamt

This is an extremely rare WWII German Anti Tank round. It was fired from the Panzerbuchse 39 (PzB) rifle. It is a very unusual shaped bullet, 7.92mm x 94mm. The base is clearly marked with the correct Nazi ordnance and Waffen codes and dates to 1939.

The Panzerbüchse 39 (PzB 39) was a German anti-tank rifle used in World War II, firing a 7.92 x 94 mm cartridge with a muzzle velocity of 1,200 m/s and an effective range of 320 meters. It was a manually operated, single-shot weapon requiring the operator to recock after each shot. Weighing 12.1 kg and measuring 1.6 meters in length, it was lighter than its predecessor, the PzB 38. At 100 meters, it could penetrate 30 mm of armor at a 60-degree angle, but effectiveness declined sharply beyond 300 meters, making it largely ineffective against tanks by 1942. Most of its ammunition featured steel cores, with some initially including tear gas capsules meant to force tank crews to evacuate, though this was later replaced with tungsten-core rounds. The weapon was prone to jamming if dirt accumulated in the barrel.
