*Rare British/Egyptian 1876 Pattern Socket Bayonet for the 303 Martini-Enfield Rifle*
1876 British/ Egyptian socket bayonet altered at the Citadel arsenal in Cairo (1903-08) for the .303 Martini-Enfield rifle. Brass socket with locking ring, equilateral triple sided blade, gutters on the three sides, well stamped and restamped in Farsi on all 3 ricassos and the number 48, it also has the number 36 stamped on the socket rim. Socket modified by opening the trigger guard. Bayonet has a full length of approx: 637mm, blade length 545mm.
A nice example of a scarce British colonial bayonet.
*Condition*
This bayonet is in good condition commensurate with its age. It has some rusting and minor pitting to the blade. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
