This is a M1889 Styer bayonet, Portuguese export piece.

The blade is marked on the edge “Styer 1886” and bears the acceptance mark on the right side. Another “x” acceptance mark can be found on the guard.

The guard is serial numbered “SS938”, which is consistent with the Portuguese serial numbers used.

This example comes with its scabbard and black leather frog.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade is 47 cm (18 ½ inches) and the overall length of the bayonet is 59.6 cm (23 ½ inches).

The bayonet in its scabbard measures 25 cm (63½ inches).

The piece weighs 820 grams.

~ Condition ~

The blade has some amount of surface rust on one side.

The markings are still visible.

The scabbard remains in fair condition with some surface rust in the frog area.

The frog is quite worn and has a tear on the left hand side. Please see the pictures.
