This is an iconic and original S84/98 bayonet (or K98 bayonet) used by Germany during World War 2. What differentiated the S84/98 series from other examples of bayonets at the time, was that they were not serrated. This meant that a German soldier could remove the weapon from an enemy without the blade getting stuck and engage their next target quickly. This particular K98 bayonet is stamped with the WKC maker’s mark which stands for “Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie” (a group of Solingen based families). It is dated 1940.
*Condition*
The bayonet is in excellent condition for its age and usage. The blade is excellent and has retained most of its original blueing. The handle is almost completely undamaged with some pitting to some of the metal parts.
