Original German WW1 Model 17 Egg Grenade

Imperial German Model 17 Eierhandgranate

Out of stock

The Model 17 Eierhandgranate ("egg hand grenade") is a small defensive and offensive hand grenade which was used by Germany during World War 1. The average soldier could throw it between 30-50 meters. It was more portable than the heavier Kugelhandgranate and less awkward to handle than the stick grenade. The body of the grenade was initially smooth and thus difficult to hold so the design was modified with the addition of a raised band to provide better grip. This grenade would make a neat, decorative item and is an excellent part of any WW1 collection.

*Condition*

The grenade is in great condition for its age and can be unscrewed. Please see pictures for more detail as they form part of our condition report.
