Nepalese Snyder Enfield Rifle Single Shot .557

Availability: Out of stock

SKU: MLJA_251646381 Category:

Here we have a Snyder Enfield, one of the most famous service rifles of the British army that had a long life in service life from 1867 to 1901 across various branches of the British Armed Forces.

This one here appears to be made for Nepalese service without the prominent maker’s marks of the English gunsmiths but with the proof marks of the British ordinance factories.

This is a three band, breech loading percussion lock rifle.

This most likely came from the recently opened Nepalese armoury.

The workmanship on the metal and wooden parts is very good and the action is still functional, the breech and sights moving easily. The hardwood has a good aged finish and the steel is in good shape with a nice patina.

~ Dimensions ~

The rifle is 56 inches (142 cm) long

The barrel is 36 inches (91.5 cm) long

The rifle weighs 4 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The rifle is in good condition with a nice aged finish.

All moving parts move freely and have been well oiled and looked after.

The Nepalese script is still very visible.
