A small brass footed dish relating to the French military officer and statesman Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 –1821) and his residence The Palace of Fontainebleau.
The dish is most likely a late 19th century commemoration/souvenir piece from the palace.
The dish is adorned with 3 stars and an image of Napoleon, all in relief and a small plaque reading ‘Fontainebleau’.
The image of Napoleon is signed ‘E. Seurre’ which is likely to be the French sculptor Charles Marie Émile Seurre or Seurre the Younger (1798 –1858).
