~ Mounted Medal WW1 Battles Of Heligoland Bight & Dogger Bank by Spink & Son 1916 ~

A 1916 dated medal by Spink & Sons commemorating the First World War Naval battles Of Heligoland Bight (1914) & Dogger Bank (1915).

The medal is mounted within a Bakelite ships wheel upon a stepped base.

The obverse with images of the British ships HMS Lion & HMS Arethusa and German ships SMS Mainz & Blücher along with the dates of the battles.

The reverse with information on the commanding officer, the ships engaged in battle and the enemy ships destroyed.

~ Dimensions ~

The medal has a diameter of 4.3 cm.

The piece has a height of 12cm (4 ¾ inches).

It weighs 220 g.

~ Condition ~

The medal has a few tiny dings and genera wear but remains in good condition.

The mounting and base are also in good condition with only light age wear.

Though the ships wheel is securely attached to the base, the joint does feel a little weak, though no problem should occur unless roughly manhandled.
