~ Mid 18th Century French Cavalry Sabre With Unusual Swivel Guard ~

The slender blade is un-fullered and gently curved with quite a thickness. The grip is of wire bound black leather.

The ribbed guard is quite unusual with a folding, pierced swivel guard.

The back edge of the blade is engraved GOZE March fourbisseur A. Metz. Goze was a private sword smith in the Metz region of France.

~ Condition ~

The sword is in excellent order, there are areas of blackening to the blade, the edge is free from nicks. The piece is sturdy. There is a small area of loss to the leather grip, the wire binding is complete.

~ Dimensions ~

The sword is 89 cm (35 inches) in length with a 76 cm (30 inches) blade.
