The piece is a model 1895 pickelhaube with a sliding rear vent and flatter skull than the prior models. It has brass and white metal fittings, a tall central spike, a leather skull and a leather lining.
The central Suum Cuique plate was only adopted in 1889 by the two Garde grenadier regiments.
When officer candidates were promoted to a full officer the central badge was enamelled.
~ Condition ~
Please refer to the images for the condition. I would described it as untouched, barn find condition. The central plate is rather loose but still attacked. All parts are original except the liner which is a very old replacement of the standard silk one.
~ Dimensions ~
The helmet is 26cm (10.25 inches) wide, 7.5 cm (3 inches) tall and 25cm (9.75 inches) deep.
