~ London Made 6 Bore Goose / Live Pigeon Gun Gentleman's Sporting Musket ~
A rather lovely and quite rare pattern of a sporting musket.
The musket is a well-balanced, quality 6 bore sporting musket in the configuration of the 'live' trap gun or goose gun. It is a mid-Victorian English piece from circa 1855.
It is half stocked and loaded by a tooled external ramrod.
The barrel is a heavy 35", 6 Bore, browned Damascene twist tapered one.
The foliate engraved furniture on a well chequered walnut stock.
There are London proofs to the hook breeched detachable barrel.
It is a well-balanced gun in fabulous condition and with an immaculate large calibre heavy bore.
A sporting gun that could be used for Live Trap shooting and also for goose hunting at elevated distance ranges.
A very well-made, large-calibre quality musket.
Once more, this is one very nice long gun and at a very good price, with quality 6 bores often commanding well over £2.5k.
