~ Late Victorian Antoine-Louis Barye Style Bronze Eagle & Snake Sculpture ~

A finely detailed bronze sculpture of an eagle and a snake in the style of the well known French Sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye (1795 –1875).

The sculpture shows an eagle with wings aloft attacking a snake.

The statue is entirely of solid bronze with a dark patina and gilt detail to the eagles beak.

The piece is signed to the underside ‘Planpain’ (we think) with the number ‘10166’ alongside. We have found no information on Planpain, any advice would be appreciated.

The piece is mounted on a circular turned wood stand in black.

~ Dimensions ~

The bronze itself measures 28cm (11 inches) across, 18cm (7 inches) front to back and together with the wood base has a height of 28cm (11
inches).

It weighs 3.8Kg.

~ Condition ~

The bronze is in a very nice condition with no damages.

The wood base has some general wear but is in good order.
