~ Late 19th Century French 18ct Gold Open Faced Pocket Watch ~

A stunning open faced pocket watch of 18ct gold.

The dial is engraved with floral decoration to the centre and has Roman numeral hour markers and blue steeled hands.

The 18ct gold  case is engraved with foliate decoration back and sides.

The inside of the case is marked for 18ct gold and has a serial no. of ‘17708’.

The watch has a copper dust cap marked ‘Cuivre’ ( French for copper) and has the serial no. again of ‘17708’ and the initials ‘JL’.

The movement is not named.

This is a pin set watch, so to set the time you press a tiny pin button to the upper edge and then you can turn the crown to move the hands. When the button is not pressed, the winding of the crown will wind the movement.

The watch comes in its original fitted leatherette box with ruffled blue silk lining.

~ Dimensions ~

The watch has a diameter of 4cm (1 ½ inches).

It weighs 50g.

~ Condition ~

There is a tiny mark to the 3 o’clock marker and a little wear to the bow (from a watch chain clasp presumably) but overall the watch is in a fantastic condition with no damages.

The case is in good order with just some mild discolouration to the silk and a little wear to the outside from age and use.

The watch is in full working order.
