*Italian, 2005, Replica Colt Model 1860 Army “Western Army 1860” Revolver by F.lli Pietta, 9mm Knall, Inert*
A full-size reproduction of the Colt Model 1860 Army revolver, manufactured in Italy by F.lli Pietta and marketed as the “Western Army 1860.”
This example follows the classic Civil War pattern with round barrel, rebated cylinder, brass trigger guard and case-coloured frame, retaining much of its original finish. The revolver is fitted with a smooth one-piece wooden grip and a blued barrel and a plain cylinder.
Visible markings include: - FAP within diamond and “F.LLI PIETTA – MADE IN ITALY” on the right side of the barrel - “WESTERN ARMY 1860 CAL. 9 mm KNALL” on the left barrel flat
- Italian proof date code “BZ” within a square on the frame - Star over PSF smokeless powder proof
- Additional Gardone proof house marks repeated to the cylinder

Historical Note:
Fabbrica d’Armi F.lli Pietta of Gardone Val Trompia is one of Italy’s best-known manufacturers of historical firearm reproductions, supplying both the reenactment market and the theatrical/film industry.
The Colt Model 1860 Army was the principal percussion sidearm of Union forces during the American Civil War, prized for its balance, improved grip profile and .44 calibre stopping power. Modern replicas such as this example reproduce the external appearance and handling characteristics of the original for reenactment and display use.
*Condition*
Very good overall display condition. The revolver retains strong original finish with light handling marks and minor surface speckling consistent with storage and use. The case colouring remains visible across the frame and loading assembly, and the blued barrel and cylinder show only light wear. Brass trigger guard and backstrap have developed a natural mellow tone. Mechanically, the revolver cocks and dry-fires correctly. The cylinder is clean and unengraved as manufactured. Factory-restricted with blocked chambers and no provision to load or discharge cartridges, a non-firing display or theatrical piece. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
