SKU: JA_935248903 Category:

An inert First World War German M1913 Rifle grenade.

The rifle grenade M 1913 was the first of a series of grenades
developed in Germany intended to be launched using the
Mauser infantry rifle armed with a blank ammunition.

The main problem with the model M1913 was its very
aerodynamic design which made it too effective a projectile,
causing it to sink deep into the ground before explosion with
lesser effects. It was followed up by the more effective (and less
aerodynamic) M1914.

The piece consists of a tubular cast steel fragmentation grenade
with a brass fuse head mounted to the tip, and a small brass tail
which is then attached to a long steel tail.

The nose tip has a screw thread and is easily removable. The
other parts are firmly attached.

~ Dimensions ~

The total length of the grenade with tail is 63cm (24 ¾ inches).

It weighs 770g.

~ Condition ~

The grenade is in a very good condition with no damages, only
the patina and general wear expected of a piece of this age.
