*German, WW2, Kriegsmarine Officer of the Watch Style Badge, Gilt Metal Fouled Anchor within Oakleaf Wreath*

A large gilt metal naval badge in the style of the German Kriegsmarine Officer of the Watch insignia of the Second World War, featuring a fouled anchor set within an oval oakleaf wreath.

The badge is of hollow-backed pressed metal construction and finished in gilt. The central fouled anchor is separately applied within the wreath, with a rope entwined around the shank. The surrounding wreath is decorated with finely detailed oak leaves and acorns, a motif widely used on German naval insignia of the period.

The reverse retains two original wire loop fittings (lugs) for attachment to a uniform or display backing. The construction is machine pressed and relatively lightweight, consistent with wartime stamped metal badges.

Approx. Measurements – Height: 6.5 cm. Width: 5.2 cm.

History Note:
Badges of this pattern are commonly associated with the Kriegsmarine Officer of the Watch (Wachoffizier) insignia, worn by naval officers responsible for watch duties aboard ship or within naval installations. The fouled anchor within an oakleaf wreath was a traditional symbol used across German naval insignia to represent authority and service at sea.

*Condition*
Good overall condition. The badge retains much of its original gilt finish with light wear and rubbing to the high points from age and handling. The reverse lugs remain present and secure, with some age-related toning to the metal. A clean example with good display appeal. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
