*German, WW2, Kriegsmarine Breast Eagle with "Zeekadetkorps" Cap Tally and Swastika Armband, Framed Display*
A framed WW2 German presentation display comprising three textile items associated with the Kriegsmarine and affiliated organisations. The upper section features a machine-embroidered dark blue on white Kriegsmarine sports shirt breast eagle, mounted on backing cloth. Below this is a black silk cap tally with the gilt Gothic inscription “Zeekadetkorps” (Sea Cadet Corps), and at the base a red cotton swastika armband with white roundel and machine-applied black swastika.
The items have been mounted together in a modern glazed frame measuring 33 cm x 40.5 cm overall, but remain loose within the mount and could be removed if required.
Historical Note: The Kriegsmarine breast eagle of this style was commonly worn on sports and physical training clothing by naval personnel. The accompanying Zeekadetkorps tally refers to the Sea Cadet Corps, a paramilitary youth and training organisation in German-occupied territories, intended to foster naval esprit de corps and prepare young men for service at sea. The swastika armband, a ubiquitous symbol of the regime, was worn by party members and affiliated groups during rallies, parades, and official functions.
Such framed groupings were often created post-war from battlefield souvenirs or collected items, and they offer an evocative visual display of naval and youth organisation insignia from the period.
*Condition* The Kriegsmarine breast eagle remains in good condition, showing only light age-toning and minor fraying along the edges. The Zeekadetkorps cap tally retains clear gilt lettering. The swastika armband displays strong colour with only minor edge wear, small pulls to the fabric, and evidence of original period stitching. All three items are loose-mounted within a later wooden and glass display clip-frame, which remains intact with some minor scuffing and wear to the edges. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
