*German, WW2, Hitler Youth - Deutsches Jungvolk Summer Shirt, Unissued, RZM A9/3 Buttons*
An original World War II Hitler Youth (Hitlerjugend, HJ) / Deutsches Jungvolk (DJ) regulation summer shirt, manufactured in tan cotton twill. The shirt features two pleated breast pockets with buttoned flaps, epaulettes, and double cuffs. It retains all seven correct dark brown composite buttons, each moulded with the HJ and DJ flags, and reverse-marked with the official RZM logo and manufacturer code A9/3.
The interior collar is stamped with blue ink depot and size codes, reading: 681 18 374 (or 314) 80 84. This denotes contract and lot numbers with sizing reference (80–84cm). Shoulder width measures approximately 39cm.
The shirt remains in unused condition, showing only storage creasing and light handling wear, with no insignia ever attached.
Historical Note:
The tan summer shirt formed the basis of the Hitler Youth and Deutsches Jungvolk uniform throughout the 1930s and World War II. Worn with black shorts, belt and insignia, it was instantly recognisable as part of the regime’s effort to standardise the appearance of German youth.
The RZM (Reichszeugmeisterei) was the central authority controlling all NSDAP uniform and equipment production. Every shirt, insignia, and button required RZM approval, marked with manufacturer codes. This shirt is fitted with buttons stamped A9/3, identifying a contracted button maker supplying HJ/DJ uniform clothing.
Surviving examples of these shirts are scarce, with most wartime shirts worn heavily or repurposed post-war. Unissued examples with full RZM-marked fittings are particularly desirable.
*Condition*
This shirt is in excellent, unissued condition. The fabric is strong with original colour, showing only light storage creases and minor loose stitching threads at a few seams. All seven original RZM-stamped composite buttons are present and secure. The interior collar stamp remains visible, though partly faded from age. No insignia or patches have ever been applied, and there is no evidence of wear. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
