*German, WW2, circa 1933, Hitler Jugend Dagger and Scabbard, Early period by Carl Heidelberg, Solingen*
13.6cm blade, 24.5cm overall
This is a rare and excellent early period Hitler Youth Dagger. Small dagger with beaked pommel, Bakelite chequered grip with two smooth dressed rivet heads with diamond shaped enameled swastika on red and white. Marked on the blade with the Double bottle logo, "Carl Heidelberg, Solingen, Ges Geschutzt”. Carl Heidelberg is a rare maker much sought after. Ges Geschutzt is the German Copyright mark. This dagger looks like it fits the profile for the early period for these blades (1933-1936), it has a thin blade, steel hilt, no ricasso, is maker marked rather than RZM code and it has a very faint motto "Blut und Ehre!"(Blood and honor) etched on the blade. The diamond is medium sized approx: 24mmx13mm.
The dagger comes in its original metal scabbard with leather belt strap. The leather strap is embossed on the back with maker mark LFS over an oak leaf. The scabbard is magnetic sheet metal with no lip on the throat as it should be.
*Condition*
The blade is in good clean condition with some fading to the engraving og the motto. The grip has signs of wear and tear commensurate with its age and service, the metal parts are tarnished. The enameled diamond is slightly damaged. The scabbard is in good condition with tarnishing and fits snugly, the belt loop is missing. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
