~ German WW2 circa 1933 Hitler Jugend Dagger and Scabbard Early period by Carl Heidelberg Solingen ~
This is a rare and exceptional early-period Hitler Youth dagger. It features a small blade with a beaked pommel and a Bakelite checkered grip, secured by two smooth dressed rivet heads. The grip also displays a diamond-shaped enameled swastika on a red and white background. The blade bears the double-bottle logo and is marked: “Carl Heidelberg, Solingen, Ges Geschutzt.” Carl Heidelberg is a highly sought-after and rare maker, with “Ges Geschutzt” indicating the German copyright mark.
This dagger aligns with the profile of early-period production (1933–1936), featuring a thin blade, steel hilt, no ricasso, and a maker’s mark rather than an RZM code. A faint etching of the motto “Blut und Ehre!” (Blood and Honor) is present on the blade. The enameled diamond emblem measures approximately 24mm x 13mm.
The dagger is accompanied by its original metal scabbard with a leather belt strap. The leather strap is embossed on the back with the maker’s mark “LFS” above an oak leaf design. The magnetic sheet metal scabbard is consistent with period specifications, including the absence of a throat lip.
~ Condition ~
The blade is in OK condition for age and use. There are a few scratches on the blade as seen in the pictures. Also, note that there is slight deterioration with the leather but again that is to be expected. Please view the photos as they form part of this condition report.
