*German, WW1, Relic Lamp Made of Mauser Gewehr 98 Rifle, Spent Cartridge & Helmet, Made by Mark Hughes*
126cm tall; 34.5 x 34.5cm base
This unique handcrafted lamp was made by artist Mark Hughes from original WW1 items.
The relic German bolt action rifle was built by Mauser and fired cartridges from a five round internal clip-loaded magazine. It was the German service rifle from 1898-1935.
The spent 7.92x57mm cartridge attached to the base was extracted from the breech of the actual gun. It is dated 1915.
The WW1 helmet was by repute, found in a field in Belgium.
*Condition*
The lamp was pat tested in 2022 and turns on when plugged in. The rifle and helmet are relics, and carry the patina of the battlefield. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
