*German, WW1, 155mm Howitzer Sight, "Panoramic view telescope", by C.P. Goerz of Berlin*

WW1 German Artillery telescopic periscope gun sight. They were used on the German 7.7cm field guns during the Great War. Stamped indistinctly to the side “Gesichtsfeld 10o Vergr 4x” - Field of view 10o magnification 4x. The top of the objective lens housing has the manufacturer and specification information is more clearly marked: “CP GOERZ, BERLIN, Rundblick, Fernrohr Nr 42452, D.R.P Nr 156039”. Rundblick Fernrohr translates directly to "Panoramic view telescope". Serial number 42452. Patent no 156039, the initials DRP mean the German Patent Office.
The two adjustment knobs allow both elevation and traverse adjustments. There is also a slit collimator on the top right of the sight to help confirm alignment. The crosshair reticle is still fully visible and optics remain clear despite the cracked outer lense.
