The Mauser C96 distinguished itself with its long barrel and high-velocity 7.63×25mm Mauser cartridge, offering superior range and penetration compared to contemporary pistols. It saw action in various conflicts, including colonial wars, World War I, the Irish Civil War, Estonian War of Independence, Spanish Civil War, Chinese Civil War, and World War II. During China’s Warlord Era, it gained popularity due to European rifle export embargoes and was widely copied. In the Russian Civil War, Bolshevik commissars favored it, even using it in the execution of the Russian imperial family.
