*German, 1935, “G-Code” Mauser P.08 Luger, S/92 Eagle Proofs, with ECO Leather Holster & POW Inscriptions, Deactivated*

Exceptionally scarce 1935 Mauser “G-Date” Luger, stamped with correct S/92 eagle military proofs and the additional Crown/N nitro mark, serial 3804, 100 mm barrel, original chequered walnut grips and magazine numbered 9027. Complete with its wartime GECO (Gustav Genschow) holster, boldly inscribed inside with the names of German POWs — Ackmann, Decker and likely Schickan.

Produced only in 1935, the G-Date was one of Mauser’s short transitional contracts that established the firm as the sole supplier of Lugers to the German military. Surviving examples are scarce, and it is rare indeed to find one accompanied by its original holster, especially with such evocative POW provenance.

Supplied with its official EU deactivation certificate (No. 188595, Birmingham Proof House, dated 28/05/2025), confirming deactivation to the latest specification. A highly desirable collector’s set with both rarity and human history.

Historical Note:
The “K” (1934) and “G” (1935) date Lugers represent the first major Mauser Oberndorf P.08 contracts after production shifted from DWM. With just tens of thousands produced before the standardised S/42 code took over, these Lugers are among the rarest military-issue Mauser pistols. Collectors prize them for their transitional markings and for the insight they offer into Germany’s rapid rearmament under the Treaty of Versailles restrictions.

The holster bears the stamp ‘ECO,’ almost certainly the wartime mark of Gustav Genschow & Co. (GECO), a major German ammunition and equipment manufacturer supplying the Wehrmacht with leather accoutrements for the P.08. Of particular note, the holster interior is boldly inscribed by captured German soldiers during their imprisonment, marking it unmistakably as a POW souvenir — a feature that elevates this set far above standard examples.”

*Condition*
The pistol retains a strong proportion of original blued finish, thinning on high edges with typical handling wear, but no evidence of harsh refinishing. Matching serial 3804 is clear on frame and components. The wood grips remain secure and show good age patina. The holster is solid with stitching intact, marked ECO on the rear and further stamped with a large impressed serial. The interior inscriptions are bold and legible, untouched since the period.
