Here we have an intriguing piece, what appears to be a staff of office or piece of regalia that has a hidden short blued backsword blade hidden inside the shaft.

The blade is marked Toledo so this may be a Spanish staff or it could be an exported blade, highly likely since Toledo was and still is a blade making centre. The staffs construction and style definitely does appear to be in the style of the British or the French.

The blade is beautifully etched and has the Toledo mark.

The staff is lightly stained wood with silver fittings and a brass or bronze cap.

~ Dimensions ~

The staff is 56 inches (142 cm) long.

The blade is 25 inches (64 cm) long.

The staff weighs 650g.

~ Condition ~

The staff is in brilliant condition for its age with an excellent blade and a few minor cosmetic sections of wear where people holding have rubbed the finish.
