Here we have a battle-worn George V 1897 Pattern Royal Engineers Pattern Sword complete with its brown leather scabbard, frog, suspension straps and belt. The grip is made from brown snakeskin and is held together by metal wire. The basket is fashioned with the royal engineers pattern and presents the royal cypher of King George V, above rests the King's crown. The fuller of the blade is etched with floral decorations, the royal cypher and imperial crown. The blade has a proof mark star and an unmarked cartuche. This sword was used in the far east service.

~ Dimensions ~

The sword in the scabbard measures at 100.5cm (39.5 inches).

The sword alone measures 97.5cm (38.4 inches), the blade measures 82cm (32.3 inches).

The complete set weighs 1.76kg.

~ Condition ~

The blade is slightly blackened and has minor pitting but is free from major chips.

The chape is damaged with small bits of leather missing and some stitching has become loose.

The frog, suspension straps and belt are all in excellent condition. Overall, it is a beautiful piece.
