~ George V 1827 Pattern Naval Warrant Officers Sword ~
Here we have a British Warrant officers sword from the reign of George the Fifth. The sword was made for ceremonial dress occasions and is quite interesting for being made in the short period where swords were almost obsolete but still being made as combat swords.
The sword has a steel blade and a brass guard, the blade has been etched with the standard etching for the time with the royal cipher and the fouled anchor. The guar similarly has the fouled anchor under the queens crown.
The sword comes in its black leather and brass scabbard.
The sword bears a proof slug with a fleur de lis and the serial number on the rear 8869.
Overall it is a wonderful piece of military history in fine condition.
~ Dimensions ~
The sword is 37 inches (94 cm) long.
The blade is 31 inches (79 cm) long.
The sword weighs 1.18 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The sword is in excellent condition for its age aside from some minor wear to the leather scabbard, a few sections of blemishing on the blade, easily polished out and the wire is loose on the grip.
