*French, WWI–WWII Service, Croix du Combattant Medal, with Original Ribbon*

This is an original Croix du Combattant (Combatant’s Cross), instituted by the French government in 1930 to honour individuals who served in combat units during recognised military campaigns. Initially awarded to veterans of the First World War, the medal was later extended to include those who served in combat roles during the Second World War, the Indochina War, the Algerian War, and other qualifying operations.

The medal features a bronze cross with laurel wreath, bearing the helmeted profile of Marianne—symbol of the French Republic—with the inscription République Française on the obverse. The reverse shows a vertical sword with rays and the inscription Croix du Combattant.

This example is complete with its original pale blue ribbon with seven vertical orange stripes, typical of mid-20th century production.

Condition Report:
Medal in good vintage condition with even patina. Ribbon is complete but shows fraying and a few small pinholes consistent with age and display. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
