These were printed in the U.S.A. and issued by the Allied military during the early phases of the liberation of France in 1944, these notes lacked approval from the Provisional Government of the French Republic. However, banks accepted them, and they were valid for tax payments. While larger denominations were demonetized in June 1945, the 2, 5, and 10 francs notes remained in circulation until the introduction of the euro.
