~ First Batch Wooden Supermarine Spitfire Propeller Hub Clock ~
The propeller is made from four wooden laminae and is pierced with eight bolt holes, now plugged with wooden stoppers. The clock is from a 1920's car and was made by Smiths. The hub stands on a rectangular wooden base with a brass plaque reading 'Supermarine Spitfire'.
Only the first 77 Spitfires produced were fitted with a two bladed, fixed pitch wooden propeller before more advanced two or variable pitched ones were used.
~ Condition ~
The clock has been recently serviced and is in good running order, it has a clean face. The hub, stand and plaque are tidy.
~ Dimensions ~
The piece is 38 cm (15 inches) wide by 30 cm (12 inches) tall by 12.5 cm (5 inches) deep. It weighs 6.28 Kg.
