A Scottish Mahogany inlaid large 14" white painted arched dial 8 day striking longcase clock made by A. McMillan of Glasgow c.1840.
The clock has painted spandrels of the seasons & Neptune with seahorses and a mermaid in the arch.
The circular painted enamel Roman dial with subsidiary seconds and date dials. Signed: 'A. MacMillan Glasgow'.

Andrew McMillan apprenticed to Francis Reid, clock and watchmaker in Glasgow and freeman of the Incorporation of Hammerman on 25th August 1837. A watchmaker and jeweller at 5 Argyle Arcade in 1837 - 1855, then at Nos 6 & 7 in 1860 - 1865.

The dial is 12.25 inches (31cm) in diameter.
