~ Fine Circa 1860 Royal Marines Ships Desk Clock, Barometer, Thermometer And Compass ~

The gilt brass piece rests on a marble base with four bun feet.

In the lantern-shaped housing are a clock to the left and a barometer to the right. This is gimble mounted to cope with the seas. In between is a thermometer with a compass above.

There are no maker's marks, but the clock has a serial number of 2628.

There is an etched dedication to the base reading "...By Sergeant Phillips".

Being a ship's piece, the naming would suggest it was a Royal Marines piece.

~ Dimensions ~
