The butter knife is hallmarked for Sterling Silver, London, 1923 with a makers mark of 'W H & Co Ltd' for William Hutton & Sons Ltd, Farringdon Road, London.
The case is of black leather and lined with maroon silk and a deep maroon velvet is named to Alfred W. Butt, Chester, Gold & Diamond Merchant Established 1785.
