Offered is an early 19th century ‘India Pattern’ socket pattern. They were called ‘India Pattern’ because it was made on contract for the East India Company (EIC) for use with their India pattern Brown Bess Bayonets. As Napoleon invaded much of Europe, Britain ramped up production of these bayonets because they were faster, cheaper and simpler to produce.

*Condition*

As you can see by the photos the bayonet is pitted all over. Original maker's marks and stamps are unrecognizable. Please refer to the images as a part of our condition report.
