The final variant of the VZ-24 bayonet was produced after the Communist takeover of Czechoslovakia in 1948, continuing until 1950, when production of the vz. 98N rifle ended. This bayonet is marked with "E95 Crossed Swords 50," indicating Czech post war communist production in 1950. It features a single-fullered, spear-pointed blade with a reversed cutting edge (on the same side as the muzzle ring), a steel hilt, wood grip scales, and a steel pommel with a locking button. The steel scabbard has a frog hook and ball finial.

The scabbard, made in 1948, reflects the political shift of the time, with the Czechoslovak Communist government adopting a letter code system similar to the German one used from 1940-1945. The code "tgf" on this scabbard indicates production at Zbrojovka, Brno.

Background: The VZ-24 bayonet was first adopted by Czechoslovakia after gaining independence in 1918 and was used with the vz. 24 rifle, a derivative of the Mauser M1898. These rifles and bayonets were widely exported and saw service in conflicts across South America, the Spanish Civil War, and the Second Sino-Japanese War. During World War II, many were captured by German forces and reissued. Production resumed after the war, continuing through the Communist takeover until 1950, when the bayonet was replaced by newer models.

*Condition*
Excellent used condition. The blade is pristine as is the grip with very minor signs of wear and tear. The nicely marked scabbard fits well and has minor scratches and dings. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
