~ Clarice Cliff Bizarre Marguerite Pattern Tea For Two Set ~
The set includes a teapot, milk jug, sugar bowl, two cups with saucers and two small side plates.
The pattern is quite simple to several of the pieces with orange and green striping on a cream ground to the saucers, plates and sugar bowl. The cups and milk jug have handles shaped as flowers in orange purple and green. The teapot employs a similar motif with a textured flower design to the lid in the same colours with a budding flower finial.
To the base of each piece is a stamp reading ‘Marguerite, Hand Painted, Bizarre by Clarice Cliff, Newport Pottery, England’. Six of the pieces have ‘Marguerite’ handwritten in black ink. Two have a ‘Marguerite’ stamp. One of the saucers is not marked as ‘Marguerite’.
~ Dimensions ~
The teapot measures 7 ½ inches (19cm) by 5 inches (13cm). The plates and saucers measure approx. 6 inches (15cm) in diameter. The set weighs 1.19Kg.
~ Condition ~
The set as a whole is in good condition; however there is a small chip to the rim of the milk jug and one of the cups has a hairline crack. There is a little discolouration to the glaze of the teapot. There is a little wear to the glaze.
