~ Circa 1840 Silver Gilt & Agate Snuff Box ~

This is a beautiful box of gilt silver and agate, used for pills/snuff or similar which dates to circa 1840.

The body of the box is of patterned gilt silver although there are no hallmarks.

The lid is made of a lovely piece of polished agate with a gilt silver rim.

The base is a star burst hand carved piece of shell, this little piece of extra work is a sign of its high quality.

~ Dimensions ~

The box has a diameter of 4cm and a depth of 2cm. It weighs 32g.

~ Condition ~

The item is in rather good condition. There is a little wear to the gilt at the edges but the rest of the item is clean and free from any scratches.
