~ Circa 1820/30 Scottish Powder Horn With Intricate Carvings ~
This large cow horn has been intricately carved in a tattoo like manner with images of Britannia, William Wallace, an emu, two dogs and multiple flowers and leaves. To the centre is a poem (as worded):
"Some Praise the costly cups of gold
And holds them moast devine
But give to me the horn of old,
When filled with Rum or wine.".
The end of the horn has been faceted into an octagonal with no stopper. The other end has been finished in a jagged "tooth" pattern, plugged with wood and finished with a small brass lanyard ring to the centre.

The horn measures approximately 18 inches (46cm) in length. The end has a diameter of 3.25 inches (8.5 cm) The piece weighs 530 g.
~ Condition ~
The piece is in very good condition for its age and type. The horn has developed a decent colouration The carvings have remained clean and clear. The horn is free form cracks or splits with only one tooth from the end missing.
