~ Circa 1803 Non Regulation Royal Marines Fighting Blue And Gilt Sabre By Hawkins Of Portsmouth ~

The sabre has a strongly curved  blue and gilt etched blade with the GR cypher, stand of arms, Royal crest and floral sprays. It has a gilt brass guard, a long single fuller to both sides, a chequered ivory grip. The black leather scabbard has pierced brass mounts and two suspension rings. The scabbard is named Hawkins, Portsmouth.

~ Condition ~

The sword is in good order, some blackening to the blade, one chip to the grip and notches to the blade. The blue and gilt is quite worn. The scabbards leather is in good order, the stitching remains tight. There are some dings to the mounts.

~ Dimensions ~

The sword is 86 cm (34 inches) in length, the blade is 74 cm (29 inches) long.
